How Lunarosa Protects Your Data

Why Is It Free?

Because the usual way to make a period app free is to sell what it learns about you. We can't do that — your data is encrypted with a key we don't have. So Lunarosa has no ads, no investors, and no data sales. It's kept running by the people who find it useful.

Yes. Ovulation estimates, your fertile window, and period predictions are all free. There is no paywall on cycle predictions.

Can Lunarosa read my cycle data?

No. Your cycle data is encrypted in your browser with a key derived from your PIN before it is sent to us. We store only ciphertext we cannot decrypt. Because we never hold your data in readable form, we cannot sell it, share it, or produce it if we are asked to.

Does Lunarosa use trackers or sell my data?

No. Lunarosa runs no advertising pixels, no third-party analytics, and no session recording. Our full list of subprocessors is published.

How accurate is the ovulation prediction?

Ovulation is estimated from the cycles you log, so it becomes more useful the more history you record. It is an estimate, not a measurement. Lunarosa is not a contraceptive and is not a substitute for medical advice.

What happens if I forget my PIN?

You can restore access with the recovery key you are given at setup. Without your PIN or your recovery key, your data cannot be recovered — not by you, and not by us. That is the direct consequence of us not holding your key.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Deleting your account removes your account and all associated records from our database.
